Gloria is one of the seven sisters of the Petyarre family, all of who are prominent Utopian artists. Their stories are of Ceremonial Body Paint Design associated with the Mountain Devil Lizard – ARNKERRTHE.
Gloria started painting‘Leaves on the Ground’in 1994, and later developed Alpeyt – Wild Flowers. These subjects do not pertain to stories from her country, but are original ideas by Gloria. Gloria has exhibited in both group and individual exhibitions since the late 1970’s. She first gained recognition in silk batik with exhibitions held nationally and internationally.
She participated in the Summer Project Exhibition for painting and has continued to work in this medium. Gloria and five of her six sisters Ada, Kathleen, Nancy, Myrtle and Violet have participated in exhibitions and are well represented in public and private collections.
Gloria’s work has featured extensively in many national and international exhibitions as well as being represented in public and private collections throughout Australia and abroad.
